We hear that the administration is pondering whether to send this second aircraft carrier in as a show of force, a warning to Tehran over its nuclear programme and support for Shia militias in Iraq. I think it's just delightful.

I wouldn't be all that surprised if a disgruntled student assassinated Ahmadinejad. They're getting restive over there. I get the sense that with economic growth and an increasingly educated middle class, it will be more and more difficult for the Ayatollahs to keep a lid on their population's dissent. But who knows...
